LAURA FACCHINI
Laura Facchini was born in Senigallia (Italy) in 1976. She began painting aged 11; initially self-taught, she pursued her artistic experience by attending various private courses in painting technique, graphics, photography, photoshop, mural painting and production of chalk models. As an undergraduate, she attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna University and studied under the supervision of the wash drawing artist Mario Venturelli, Franco Marrocco and the critic Walter Guadagnini. Her final dissertation, entitled 'The denied figuration", examines the Italian Trans-Vanguard movement and its protagonists. She also won several national high level painting competitions. In 1999 she was first classified at the national painting competition organized by the cultural association "La Cuba d'Oro", so getting her first personal exhibition in Rome, in the art gallery possessed by the same association. In the years 2000-2001 she worked as illustrator and computer graphics export for the scientific enciclopedia a "Liste Rosse e Blu" on italian flora, designed in view of the 'Forum Plinianum' and promoted by the National Agency for Environmental Protection (Rome).
She has been exhibiting her painting for 12 years and her works have become popular in many Italian cities (Rome, Pesaro, Senigallia, Salsomaggiore Terme, Recanati, Novilara, Sant'Agata di Bologna, Reggio Emilia). One of her most prestigious achievements was her participation in an incision graphics exhibition cured by the "Accademia Internazionale dell'Incisione Artistica" in the person of Professor Walter Bacchiocchi. In November 2007 she presented her paintings in Gherardi Palace (Pesaro) on the occasion of exhibition entitled "The flavour of colours, the colours of flavours", representing her own region (Marche). In december 2007 she took part in the collective exhibition cured by the artist Nella Giambarresi in Rome.
The well-known critic Sabrina Vedovotto so reviews her work: ..."we are not in front of abstract works, but rather before light, underlying forms which express the urge to flourish out the sheath of sensorial experience...the colours seem to court reality and, all the same, they give room for an awareness of what the painting is narrating".

The artist Ennio Giuliani, who presented her works in a critical essay published on the occation of her personal exhibition in Rome, writes that Laura Facchini's artistic route starts from the Post-war American Expressionism, according to which the tragic sense of existence can be revealed through simple, non-narrative forms, and the emotions sprung in front of the mistery of life can be expressed through the absolute essence of colour.
Her last exhibition, "Colours and Evanescences" ended in Rome (Cuba D'oro Gallery), on June 7th 2008, achieving enormous appreciation. In November 2008 she took part in the artistic exhibition "Contemporeus" in Forli. The artist conceives of painting as a way to express her total self. This is emphasized through a variety of styles and colours, ranging from a deep black to an intense red and a warm gold.
She never gave up painting and she is currently working as graphic technician, illustrator and web designer.
